I love posting about all of my awesome clients, and showcasing the images from their sessions, but today I thought I’d go a different route and share some things about myself so you can get to know me a little better, if you don’t know me already!
I was born in Arizona, but moved to Nebraska when I was one and was raised here in the Good Life by my mother, Mala! I grew up in Cortland but visited my father, whom lived in Lincoln, often. I met my husband, Brad, when I was only 19, fresh out of high school. Brad was going to school at Wesleyan when a mutual friend introduced the two of us. We began dating and have now been happily married for two years!
I went to college initially for business entrepreneurship, but after a year and a half of that I was bored and wanted to do different things, plus I was 20 so I knew everything(or so I thought)! 🙂 After a few years of working for a non-profit organization in Lincoln, I decided it was time to go back to school to finish that degree! I went back and while taking the classes I needed to graduate with my business degree I added in a graphic design class, as well. The graphic design class was by far my favorite. I immediately switched majors after my first class and am so happy I did! While in college I learned more about photography and how to use the programs to edit photos and design marketing pieces. I loved the design aspect of school, but loved the photography part even more! I began taking photos for friends and family on the side in the evenings and weekends. Eventually it grew into booking real clients, ones I didn’t know through mutual friends or relatives.
While still in college I had an internship with Transformation Marketing in Panama, Ne. I loved the graphic design work I did for them and had a fun time being on the team with everyone there. My best friend was working there at the time also, so it made for a fun atmosphere to work in! In addition to working the internship, I was also still working part-time at the non-profit, caring for a disabled veteran a few days a week, planning my wedding, and renovating the building which I had bought in January 2013 to house my photography studio in Firth. Things were a little hectic, to say the least!
At the end of my internship with Transformation, they offered me a part time job until I was finished with school. I gladly accepted the offer and after I graduated I took on the full-time hours. Within that first year that I was with Transformation, my photography side business began to grow into something I hadn’t quite anticipated! I started getting so booked that I barely had any time for a social life or even to just sit down and not be on the computer while home with my husband! It was at this time I decided to take that leap of faith and go full-time with my own business.
I went full-time in January 2014 and I haven’t looked back since! Taking that ever-so-frightful jump into quitting my hourly paying full-time job to trying to make my own business succeed by focusing 100% of my energy into it was definitely worth all of the stress and anxiety I had leading up to the decision.
I now live in Hickman with Brad and our three children dressed in fur, Lucky our oldest dog, she’s a Chihuahua and loves to rule the roost, Bella our middle dog, she’s a Boggle(Boston Terrier/Beagle mix) and is our crazy girl, and Cooper, our 90 pound baby, he’s an Olde English Bulldogge and is a baby in every sense of the word. Brad and I love to travel, go to sporting events, hang out with our family and friends, take our dogs on walks, spoil our nephews, and just be around one another because spending time together is very important to both of us.
My father recently passed away and it was one of the hardest times in my life. I am so blessed and thankful to have the support team that I do around me to comfort and help me in times of need. I hold the photos I have with my father very close, they’re truly one of my treasures and I’m so happy to have them to hold the memories I’ve had with him and remind me of all of our times together.
Capturing the types of memories that I, myself, love to look at and hold dear to my heart is something I strive to provide to all of my clients. To me, it’s important to build a company I am proud of. I try my very hardest to give my clients the best customer service and products they could want, I work very hard to keep up with the ever-changing technology and design aspects that go into photography and graphic design, and I’m constantly educating myself and learning as much as I can to give my clients the best experience possible, which is what they deserve. All of these things are the reason why I love what I do. I’m passionate about my business and I hope that shines through when meeting me! In everything I do, my hope is to be able to capture your special memories for you to cherish for a lifetime.
xoxo,
Casey
